[Deprecated] LH_CoreTemp (v1.01)
« on: 2010-11-27 19:35:52 »
This plugin is deprecated from A14, in favour of LH_Monitoring

LH_CoreTemp
Latest Version: 1.01

LH_CoreTemp is a plugin that will connect to a running instance of CoreTemp and pull out sensor data and display it in LCDHost:
  • Display sensor readouts simply as text.
  • Display status icons based on various thresholds (See LH_SpeedFan for more info). See the included icon sets which are based on the excellent icon set "silk" from famfamfam.com.
  • Plot graphs of sensors over time.

e.g.:

Here you can see my current layout, including an array of temperatures.

Download
(Download disabled as the current version is bundled with LCDHost)

Note that the icon sets use an image map (See LH_SpeedFan for more info).

Q: But isn't there already support for CoreTemp?
A: Yes. And it still provides some information that this does not (e.g. Avg temperature). However the existing CoreTemp support was missing some of the "standard" features of the other system monitoring tools, namely graphing and (my personal favourite) the health or status icons. This provides all that functionality as well as providing users with the ability to look at individual temperatures.

All this look strangely similar to LH_SpeedFan? Well, that's because it is - these two plugins do basically the same thing but for different 3rd Party applications.

I am using your setup. I just downloaded this plugin as well as the CoreTemp program. It does not seem to be displaying on my lcd screen though? Any suggestions?

Did you tell LCDHost to load it? (Check the sticky for info on how to do that)

When to add a CoreTemp Data object what do you see? Anything? or do you get a gray X through the object?

If the plugin is loaded and coretemp isn't running or if LCDHost cannot connect for some reason you should see "0C" as the rtemperature. Nothing usually suggests you haven't given LCDHost permission to load the plugin (as mentioned above)

I have loaded the plugin. What I am assuming is that it will automatically fetch the information. However it seems I need to do something else. I'm also assuming I can find it here. I'll try and figure it out for myself, but any further guidance would be very much appreciated!

Edit: Yes I think I have Figured it out!

Yes all those gray Xs show you've not loaded the plugin dlls those items require. Check the instructions thread I linked to before.

Also the plugins just create new items in the list of available objects. You will need to drag a coretemp data item onto the screen for anything to appear.

I understand now what you mean by "my setup" - you mean my Eos layout, which is actually built using the SpeedFan objects. For the CoreTemp objects to work you'll need to replace all the LH_SpeedFan entries with LD_CoreTemp items (select each item and change the Class drop down to LH_CoreTemp/CoreTempText for the text items and LH_CoreTemp/CoreTempStatusImage for the status icons.

Yeah. I should have been a bit more clear on what I meant by your setup. I'm getting the hang of how to manipulate things now. thanks for your help!
