That's to be expected and is normal. A couple of events occurred at the same time, and each one would normally cause the weather to be downloaded. Rather than allow both to occur, one of them gets aborted.

I'm glad it's finally working correctly for you. Thank you for being so swift to try my debug builds. It's made working on the issue a lot less frustrating than the process is usually.

Sounds good. And, anytime m8. Glad to be of assistance.

Plugin wont let me select a location (the grey box just stays empty) - Yahoo website finds the location without problems. Probably because I'm sitting behind a proxy - does the plugin use the system default proxy setting?

Oooh. Interesting.

No I don't believe it does. I'll look into how I can change that. Does the TextRSS component work? And do you see anything in the Log from the Weather componenets?

Ok. I'm pretty sure it's a proxy thing. The factthat text rss doesn't work is exactly what I'd expect as the two items use the same method to acquire data. I shall investigate.

Ok Mr RSM72...

Could you try this version and let me know if it works? I'm not behind a proxy so this is currently only a theoretical fix! If it works I'll make a full release.

Still not working:

15.11.2010 09:28:06    DBG    "E:/SOFTWARE/DRIVERS/Logitech/G19 Plugins/LCDHost/plugins/LH_Weather.dll" loaded
15.11.2010 09:28:06    DBG    LH_WeatherConnector: Using Proxy:  "192.168.1.1"
15.11.2010 09:28:06    WRN    LH_WeatherConnector: Error during HTTP (2Day) fetch: "Request aborted" 1684625233

But the proxy address is correct. Any chance you can print the proxy port too in that DBG line?

Ok, try this. I've made some fixes to the proxy code and made it output the port, but I think my fixes might have fixed it...

Let me know, and I'll also fix the TextRSS code and pass it over to SirReal so that he can look at including it in the next alpha

Still not working:

15.11.2010 17:06:05    DBG    LH_Lua: loaded SamplesLuaCairoTest from "lua/cairotest.lua"

15.11.2010 17:06:21    DBG    LH_WeatherConnector: Using Proxy:  "192.168.1.1" : "3128"
15.11.2010 17:07:02    WRN    LH_WeatherConnector: Error during HTTP (2Day) fetch: "HTTP request failed" 17
15.11.2010 17:07:03    WRN    LH_WeatherConnector: Error during HTTP (2Day) fetch: "HTTP request failed" 0

I checked what it does with wireshark and I see the box still trying to talk to 87.248.122.181 directly (thats api1.weather.vip.ch1.yahoo.com) while it should only talk to the proxy.

That may be because I am - at times - a copy paste monkey.

I needed to set the proxy in two places (the WOEID code and the 2/5Day code) and did not do it properly (both times it just set the WOEID proxy).

D'oh.

Try this one.

Nice the grey box shows the correct location now but the log is still giving me a single warning:

EDIT (full log after reloading a layout with just the weather connector):

That might be ok. Aborts happen naturally when the connector fires multiple requests in quick succession (e.g. Typing "Moon" into the location box would quickly fire off lookups for "M" then "Mo" then "Moo" and finally "Moon"); when that happens it aborts any pre-existing routine. This also happens when you load a theme as a couple of triggers that initiate lookup routines get fired during the load sequence.

The question is whether the feed appears to be providing up-to-date weather information or not: i.e. when you fill a theme with weather objects and load it up do they update to show temperatures etc?

Yep seems to work fine, reported conditions match what I see outside :)

lol

Ok, thanks. I'll build a release version shortly that supports proxys with sourcecode. You can update or not but it will basically be the same with slightly less debug output.

I'll also add a note to myself to add this code to TextRSS shortly. I had a few improvements I wanted made to it anyway and I figured if I did them and offered the finished product to SirReal he might include them in the next release.

Got a feature suggestion, not sure if the yahoo api will do that: Is it possible to get the text returned (basically weekdays and condition description) in the correct language based on the location?
